Foodstuffs committed to transparent supplier relations
Foodstuffs North and South Islands have reiterated their
commitment to transparent dealings with all suppliers.
The groups are responding to comments by Hon. Shane Jones in
Parliament that an Australian supermarket is allegedly requiring
guaranteed margins from local grocery suppliers.
Foodstuffs North Island managing director, Murray Jordan, says
he and his South Island counterparts, are extremely proud of way in
which they work with suppliers and the honourable and long-term
relationships they have with them.
"We have fostered personal, strong relationships with our
suppliers over a considerable number of years and are extremely
proud of these associations. As a 100% New Zealand owned and
operated co-operative Foodstuffs would never engage in behaviour
that we consider intimidating or unfair by demanding guaranteed
margins. We treat our suppliers with the respect they deserve."
Mr Jordan says Foodstuffs meets regularly with suppliers to
ensure open dialogue and stages a national supplier update each
"The next Foodstuffs North Island national update is in a few
weeks' time and we're again looking forward to engaging with our
suppliers to ensure we continue to support their businesses and the
needs of our customers. Our focus is on fair prices and terms for
all parties and that commitment continues."
