PAK'nSAVE Queenstown gets ready to open this week

PAK'nSAVE Queenstown, on the Frankton Flats, will be officially
opened by the district's new mayor, Jim Boult, on Thursday, 3
November, at 8.30AM.
For the store's owners, Michelle and Anthony King, the opening
will be the culmination of years of planning and many months of
construction.
"We're incredibly excited that opening day is almost here," says
Michelle King. "So much time has been poured into it and so many
people are coming to share in it with us."
"It's a unique feeling of relief that it's been finished,
anticipation of the challenge ahead, and celebration that we can
finally show locals what PAK'nSAVE has to offer."
And like any good celebration there'll be food and lots of it -
enough to fill the new supermarket's massive 5,765m2 of floor
space.
"Our overriding offer is New Zealand's lowest food prices," says
Anthony King. "This is Queenstown's first food warehouse and
shoppers will love the savings and the size."
"Our aisles are wider, and our range of products is too, but most
importantly we're going to be helping locals get their grocery
bills down by offering the best value in town."
"On Thursday we'll have in-store tastings, the Hellers food truck
will serve up some hot breakfast, and Richard Emerson is coming to
talk about his award-winning craft beers."
Given such offerings, and the fact the next PAK'nSAVE is two hours
away, they're expecting shoppers from as far afield as Wanaka,
Alexandra and Roxburgh, maybe even Gore.
"Queenstown is, after all, a destination in itself," says
Michelle. "A place people come year-round to relax, have fun and
recharge their batteries, and stock up on essentials too."
"Shoppers will also find an array of local delicacies: Central
Otago wines, artisan cheeses, and the ever-popular Remarkable
Tortillas made daily right here in Queenstown."
"And knowing we'll be serving visitors from overseas means we're
especially committed to ensuring our store looks great, the food's
top notch, and our staff are extra friendly."
In total, the Kings expect to employ at least 150 staff, and
they've been working hard to fill all vacancies but do still have
some great employment opportunities available.
"Supermarkets are about team work," says Anthony, "and we've
assembled a winning team that includes some of the best butchers
and bakers in town."
"We've been talking for a while now about the benefits PAK'nSAVE
will bring Queenstown: lower prices, fresh food, faster shopping.
Now it's time for us to deliver, and we will."
Roger Davidson, GM Property and Retail Development, Foodstuffs
South Island, says Thursday's opening will mean there are a dozen
PAK'nSAVE stores in the South Island.
"This proves our determination to bring everyday savings to as
many mainlanders as possible," says Davidson.
"Only recently PAK'nSAVE was once again found to have the
country's cheapest supermarket shopping, and it's great we can now
offer that to the people of Queenstown."
